CAMOUFLAGED BOX

Students and parents of students should read my introduction to letterboxing before seeking the boxes.

Be sure to read through all the clues before looking for the boxes so you know what is expected of you.

Clues:

Clue 1: Park in the parking lot at Jackson Park

Clue 2: Walk to the far south of the woods by the soccer goals or the north side of the skate park.  Do not enter.

Clue 3: Face the woods. Solve for the determinant of this matrix and walk north that many steps right along the edge of the woods.

Clue 4: Turn 90º to your right.  Find the angle that the following equation makes with the x-axis.  Turn that many more degrees to your right..  Walk in that direction for 25 steps.

y = 2/3x + 5

Clue 5: Face the woods again.  Solve this equation for x and walk that many steps towards the woods.

2x + 20 = 60

Clue 6: Find the determinant of the following matrix and walk that many steps to the right along the edge of the woods.

Clue 7: Solve the following equation for x and turn that many degrees right to find the letterbox in front of you!  Don’t let it stay fenced in any longer!

7x + 3 = 283

BEFORE RETRIEVING THE BOX, BE SURE NO ONE IS AROUND TO SEE YOU TAKE THE BOX OUT!  DO NOT BRING ATTENTION TO YOURSELF OR THE HIDING LOCATION OF THE BOX!

Good luck!
