We began the Polaroid Island by forming the simple box. Our dimensions were approximately 16” by 12”. We left the bottom open for some access space. We then formed a border around the top of the box with ½” wood to hold up the glass and polarization filter. We fastened down the glass, filter, as well as all the joints with screws. We then drilled a hole in the side of the box for the cord to go into for the light fixture. We then fastened the light fixture to the inside of the box and left the hole semi-open for the hot air to escape.

We also carved different objects out of clear plastic tape and left a piece of cellophane next to the box with some small polarizing discs. Using these materials one could look through the small polarizing discs at the tape designs and cellophane to see a variety of designs as the place the objects atop the box.
